Who're your favorite artists / photographers?
(And I mean art artists, not music artists)

The reason I'm asking is because art's been on my mind recently... last night, I watched a quick (46 min.) BBC documentary on Jackson Pollock and started to understand better why his work is so appreciated

you know that's a good question, and not one i have an answer to. and this bothers me. i will find one and get back to you. i enjoy many artists but i can't think of a certain one who's made a big impact on me, and this saddens me.

Definatly has to be Brian Freud he's just so brilliant in my mind and you'd know this if you've seen Labrinth or Dark Crystal in which his artwork and style were used for the movies. Otherwise my second favorite has to be Amy Brown. But then again the question has to be established what do you mean by artist? Do you consider musicians and writers and poets to be artists as well as ones who can draw and use illustration?

that's easy.. Keith Haring is the shit.. I have a bunch of his prints framed on my walls... Jackson Pollock, however, I'm not too fond of him personally.

alfred steiglitz is an awesome city photographer (did my midterm on him)<3 his stuff... hmm there were a few good paintings in freshmen year that i studied, but i really forgot most of them unfortunately. oh oh i remember the painting now but i forget what its called. i know the story behind it, but ugh, i'll look it up later!

i happen to like andy warhol and jackson pollack. weegee was really good too. he was a crime scene photographer. his pictures are very vintage and urban. we should go to the museums together or to soho. <3
