I see...all you said was "Most blood thirsty of the lot", and Huitzilopoctli is the embodiment of corruption, filth, torture, and madness. The whole, ripping-out-hearts thing and having blood perpetually trail down the steps of his temple made me figure he was the one you meant hehehe. Tell me about Tezcatlipoca!
Tezcatlipoca was the god of warriors and darkness. Huitzilopoctli dealt primarily with physical corruption, but Tezcatlipoca's corruption would go right to the soul. It was said that he could rape the souls of the pure. He also dealt with ghosts and the afterlife.
Duels were held in his name where good men were killed by other good men, the loser skinned alive, heart ripped out, and head cut off. The heads would be tossed down the steps of his pyramids, as would the bodies afterwards. Dozens were sacrificed to him on a daily basis and his priests would weave the eyelids of those sacrifices into their garments.
He demanded several sacrifices over he course of a year. The one that comes to mind was that of two children, brother and sister, that were to be taken into the river and drowned. Their bodies were to be tied to the bottom of the river for a period of two weeks.

Huitzilopoctli was the god of the sun and war, but he was not the chief god that the Aztecs worshipped. That'd be Tezcatlipoca.
And I wish I'd been going out for James, too.
