I just found out this morning that The Green Glass Sea has won the New Mexico State Book Award for YA fiction.

I'm *so* thrilled. I love New Mexico, and hope this'll be an opportunity to take another trip there.

It's so strange. I sit in a room by myself, putting words on the page, and then they go out into the world, in ways that I would never have imagined.  This is one of them. I'm so happy for Jim.

Science fiction is a tribe. The first time I went to a convention, I knew I'd finally met folks I should have known my whole life. The people who, had I known them in junior high, would have made everything okay. These are my people. We are from the same planet.

Hey All --

I'm (almost) back from my self-imposed exile, with about 33,000 words written in the last four weeks, at Endicott West, just east of Tucson, where it got to be 114° (F) some days. I stayed inside and typed.
