Really just gratuitous posting of my darling child. My mom made his costume, and so I took him into Ann Arbor on Friday morning for a special library story time (which was a total zoo), and then trick-or-treating to all the businesses that were open to the children. So Ansel turned one year old on Saturday, and we had a rather large party for him on Sunday - 34 people in all - Wow! I'd not counted them all until now, although several of those were babies or young children so it didn't seem that crowded.

I just called Mo, and Ansel is sleeping. She said he cried for just a few minutes this morning, and then she got him interested in some stuff and he was okay as long as she didn’t go too far. I don't know why I feel so compelled to write about working and mothering, but it's such a tricky thing, and no where do I ever really feel validated in my choices. That's not entirely true, of course, Laurens is a huge support and he's always telling me that Ansel's doing great even though I'm working. Ugh, I feel like the world's worst mother today. Ansel is home sick and here I am at work. It's funny because when I first came back to work, I missed him, sure, but as time passes, I only miss him more and more. Friday was my last day of work! A great way to celebrate my birthday - the last of the twenties... next year I'll be 30, which I find slightly disturbing since I remember my dad's 30th birthday party. This will be a quick one, since I'm so far behind. Given that as of last Friday I had only one more week of work, all non-work-related things have fallen by the wayside. I had a midwives appointment on Monday that went fine, bp was 110/70, Aatje's heartbeat was 132/minute, I'm up to 174 lbs. That's still only 22 pounds gained overall, so I can't ( Read more... )
