so i made it to amsterdam ok... after a flight cancellation and finding another one  4 hours later...
unfortunately, i have yet to find john.
i very much hope he's not still at the train station.  i hung around there for a while and didnt see him by either of the info booths where we said we''d meet, so i checked into my hostel and emailed him.
