Woohoo!

This brings back fond memories of my childhood summers and spending so much time at the pool and swim meets. It sounds like J is having a great first swim team experience!

Can't wait to hear the rest of the story :-)

I'm so glad that she seems to have found something athletic that she likes and is good at. I really hope she continues. It's been an interesting learning experience for me - how to encourage, but not too much so she doesn't get burnt out or see that mom thinks this is a really good idea, so it must be a bad one. Luckily, she's had really good coaches this summer as well as a couple of good teachers. I just have to remember not to remind her of what they've said too often. Oh, and I also can't get too excited or brag too much when she's around or the eye rolling starts LOL.

Yes, I am waiting for this moment, so I KWYM.

DD had a great teacher for swim lessons in June. But he made the fatal mistake of telling her that she had a beautiful stroke and that she should come out for the swim team in a couple of years. Little does he know that she hates competition, especially where she might stand out. Unfortunately, I did not know how much she would love outdoor lessons and only signed her up for the first session and now it is totally full. As much as she loved her lessons, she refuses to take indoors. Gah.

J is pretty much the same way re competition. The nice thing about swimming is it's really you against the clock/yourself. Like J, K strikes me as one who wants to do her best and that type of competition tends to appeal.

Too bad about the indoor pool. We've been doing weekly lessons at our gym year round for the past couple of years and I think it's really paid off. Once the kids started liking lessons I was afraid to ever let them stop and decide they didn't really miss it. LOL. You never know, K may come around. I feel like J did.
