Cycling

I like cycling. I prefer it to running, mind you - there's not much I don't prefer to running. However, moving on...

Over the last few months I've worked out a nice circular route in a local park. Those who follow my runkeeper will have seen occasional comments on the excitement caused by overenthusiastic canines and (perhaps worse?) British ( Read more... )

My 25.4mph racing is probably more worrying, but I don't get quote to that in the park. I reckon there I'm normally doing around 15-20 according to the computer.

Yeah - I'm very aware of my speeds as because it's exercise I track it but I am g33ky about it. Hopefully he'll agree that the very concept is ridiculous.

Surely if it's a pedestrian area there should be no road vehicles, such as bicycles?

At least it is 5 MPH as miles are what we use in England. If it had been 5 KPH you could have reasonably ignored such things until you reached a French area.

I don't understand what you're saying. I'm talking about setting a speed limit in a cycle lane - that is a lane for (bi)cycles.

Is it a special strip of tarmac on it's own, or a part of a path?

It's a shared path with a painted line partitioning off a section for bicycles.

I was half expecting his email back to be 'It's marking the number of the cycle route you dick'. That might still happen.

If you fancy it at some point, the cycle to Stratford is quite pleasant. Back less so mind, but there is always the train.

I know that feeling. The route I do is about 25miles and 90minutes. Then train back takes about 45minutes if I remember.

*grins* I wonder if they'll even have the nerve to reply to something with so much supporting information in it.

And 5mph is surely a terrible number to pick anyway - I run at about 6mph, and I'm not exactly fast, but it's still tricky to cycle that slow.
