Off we went to PAX www.pennyarcadeexpo.com/ today.  It is a huge (and growing) convention of gamers of all stripes.

I don't think I have ever seen so many geeks (in all their various species) in one day.  The convention center is pretty large, but by the middle of the day it was really packed.

G and I went to Pride yesterday.  We have not gone for a few years, partly because we were not thrilled that they moved the event from the "gay neighborhood" to downtown.  I understand why they did it, but it still isn't the same as 10 years ago.

G and I drove down to the Salt Lake City area last month to see our friend graduate from Neumont University.  He (and his family) did an amazing job of getting through a four year computer science degree in two years!  We thought we should show him some support and let him know how proud we were that he had managed this by being there for the ( Read more... )

I have never been one of those lucky folks who win contests, but last month I was a big winner in a City of Heroes contest sponsored by NCSoft and Techgage.com.

I won the GRAND PRIZE!

I just reread Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen  (I was running late and didn't have a book to read on the bus so I grabbed it rather than staring mindlessly across the aisle for the trips.)

Last week it was M's turn to have a birthday!

We celebrated on the weekend...which gave me more free time to make cake.  I did a fluffy yellow cake with chocolate frosting.  I was naughty and used Theo Chocolate to make it!  It was easier to whip up (in the food processor!) than a standard buttercream and tasted pretty darn good.  Those folks at ( Read more... )

Seattle had a what I believe they called a "Pineapple Express" a little over a month ago.
