Want. Pony.

My grandfather raised and trained registered Morgans and Belgians. My uncle is a veterinarian (large and small animals). My best memory of childhood is going for winter sleigh rides with my grandfather and his horses. Unfortunately, just about the time I was getting to be old enough to be really interested in the horses, my grandfather got too ( Read more... )

It's actually something that I've been thinking about for a while, that I run into now and again. That constant realization that I am the architect of my life, that I make all the choices now. Partly it's laziness -- you fall into habits and stay there ( ... )

I love Tim Gunn. That's some good advice, and not just about clothes. It's an overwhelming feeling, being in charge, and often times can end up keeping you from doing anything. My composition teacher at college saw this happen with his students, so for the first few pieces he had us right, he imposed serious restrictions (like, you can only use four notes, or one instrument etc.) Within limits, there is great freedom. Just saying "Go! Do what you want!" so often ends up with "...bwah?" Too many choices. Where does one start?

I'm doing a lot of things that I love. I'm playing more these days (and even getting paid for it, now and again!), I'm finding time for friends and getting closer to people I've always liked and admired.

The job thing still puzzles me. It's going to be trial and error on that front for a while, I think.

Hope you're doing well, too. I've really done little more than poke my head in on lj these past few months, and most of that has been on grisskink or grisslash

Mmmmm. Horses ;) When we were kids, all the girls were horse-crazed, even though only one of us had ever ridden one and there weren't any horses for hours (and lots of money) away by car. The first time I sat on a horse ( first out of three times), I was absolutely ecstatic. I still have all my horse-books that I got from the horse-themed club we were in, and I still like to take them out and read them and be ten again.

And horses does smell nice, smells almost like childhood.
