Although it was by no means terrible, I have a few reasons why I can't recommend you go see Fever Pitch ( Read more... )

But is it the best movie about baseball starring Jimmy Fallon?

Heh. That was a very comprehensive breakdown, Knoler.

I know there was a lot of people up in arms because they went in expecting a Red Sox movie that had romance in it, and I guess found out that it was a romance movie with some Red Sox in it.

Wasn't Fever Pitch (the book) originally about soccer?
I want to say that's why I never read it.

When are they going to make a movie out of "How to be Good?" Have you read that one?

yeah soccer- it's his autobiography though. and i think that as much as the red sox were a good choice for fanaticism, soccer fans still go so far beyond that, it's tough to translate.

and honestly, i LOVE LOVE LOVE colin firth in the original version of fever pitch.

Yeah, that definitely wouldn't translate. I don't think that you could really make an American movie about soccer fanaticism. We don't get it.

I wonder if I can GreenCine the original...

I should rent the original sometime. Using the Red Sox instead of the Arsenal soccer team could have worked, but they effed it up.

Ebert liked it, he's a silly fat man.

There are better Drew Barrymore romantic movies: fifty first dates!

I haven't seen that one, but is it actually better than The Wedding Singer?

The question which seems to have gone unasked is: What were you doing going to see Fever Pitch? I know you're going to pull some sort of "I need to see it because it is an adaptation of Ni..." Did you see the fucking previews?!?! Not to mention that you are a Yankees fan.

Other than the reason you predicted, which was part of it, the other reason was that I went to the theater in Westborough on a whim late last night with the intention of basically seeing whatever was playing. It was the end of the night, and the last showing of Sin City had already started, so I saw this.

I've been kind of harsh on it; it was actually kind of entertaining. It's just kind of useless.

It did fill one important void, though: it was the first movie I ever saw all by myself. Not just that I went to the theater alone, but that no one else even went to the showing. I've always wanted to do that for some strange reason. Now to just get to do that with a girl and have it be a lame movie so we can get it on the whole time.

You need to turn your cell phone on once in a while, or at least call a brother back! :) How are you?

Floors sticky from Sprite and stuck with pieces of popcorn and resin armrests.

No. Not a nice place to "get it on."
