Excellent pictures! I'm quite a fan of both the geometric house pic and your Dad's shorts in the dog park pic... :)
To be a bit particular, stars are optically effected by our atmosphere though it almost always takes the form of flickering due to winds at altitude. Color changes are far, far less common though not unheard of. Such color changes would usually take place near the horizon with a large amount of dust in the atmosphere, often due to volcanic eruption, etc. It doesn't sound like that was your case though. Keep an eye peeled for aliens!
