The mod run plot looks really interesting, but I have some reservations about it, having been stuck in mod plot hell a couple times before.
How involved are the mod NPCs in the game? Occasional big events or interacting like any other character? Do players contribute to advancing the plot or is it railroaded? Does it drag or are they pretty good at keeping interest alive, plot twists, etc?

Mod NPCs rarely tag people's posts with the exception of Grady punishing miscreants. If you want them to interact with you, you can go to the player plot thread and request a conversation with one.
During big events, they are out in full force.
The plot appears to be set. We don't have much control, but the two really major plot-advancing events so far, Westport and Better Dead, have both actively involved characters figuring out the mystery so it does feel like you can do things. Mostly, characters find clues that they can share with others and try to figure out.
The plot is the best thing I've ever been a part of.

It's really fun, the plots are great, and the characters there are engaging and welcoming. But some characters just aren't going to fit - I ended up dropping because my character was so ill-suited to the environment (and am considering rejoining, just with someone more, well, suitable) - the one I originally played there was very innocent.
One downside is that the mods can take a very long time to respond to people, though - back when I was playing, there was a disappearance that lasted a week or two that actually made people think they had ditched the game and left.
But overall, I had quite a positive experience there, and enjoyed a lot of the CR I got.

IA with characters not fitting in. I mean, I got good CR when I was playing a certain character but the character just didn't work in such a dark environment. That's just me though, there's plenty of not-grimdark characters that do totally fine.

What's the pace of this game like? From first glance, it seems pretty fast-paced, probably too much for me. After all, I recently dropped a game that's much slower-paced than sirenspull appears to be, for the reason that I couldn't keep up.
But before I give up on all hope of considering Sirenspull, can someone fill me in on how slow a player can be and still survive in this game?

I've actually found the majority of the people from KC who have applied to be really great RPers. I've played with them in other RPs, and they're quality players, and really nice people to talk to. So I don't see them being in as a warning at all; on the contrary, I see it as more of motivation to app there.

Thinking about apping and I'd like to know more about the place. The playerbase, atmosphere, plots and character involvement, stuff like that. How well has the game managed to get off the ground? And no going on about 'Saph is a mod', please. I know that already and I don't care.

It looks like it's starting off strong and the mod work shows a lot of dedication with the newsfeeds and everything, but I have the feeling they won't be able to keep it at that level and that the game will eventually flop. It's like having that great big burst of energy at the start of a race, but not pacing yourself and eventually getting tired and slowing down, you know? That's what's happened with Siren's Pull, and Project Purity has taken a lot of the same components from them.

It has a very active chat, and all the players I've been able to meet through it are very friendly. The mods are incredibly active and the app response time is great. I've heard that they aren't afraid to ask for revisions, though, so be prepared to deal with that if you rush through your app.
