[For the longest time, Bobby pretty much just sat staring at this. And the name attached to it.
He'd told himself he wouldn't reply, because just like Raven isn't really Mystique, this Charles Xavier wouldn't be the Professor. It can't be. The Professor is gone. But. He can't make himself stay away.
He sticks to audio, though, since he doesn't exactly trust himself not to give something away on video right now.]
I don't really think they care all that much about our opinion or our cooperation. So far we're pretty much on our own, unless you break something of theirs or something.
You're, um. Also probably not going to have much luck in the 'seeing yourself out' department.
It's really not. Obviously, they just have no appreciation for how the kidnapping business works.
[...and he's kind of joking about kidnapping with the Pro- not with the Professor. But still with a Charles Xavier. Yeah, he needs to stop thinking now.]
Oh, the breaking stuff. Yeah, they don't really like that. Apparently they're very committed to this whole medieval thing, including medieval style punishments.
No, I guess you won't. I haven't managed to find a way out yet, though, and I've been here awhile.
If it helps, I thought it was great. Not that I'm usually looking to be all that intimidating, but I'll keep it in mind when it does happen.
[And then he grimaces slightly.]
Yeah. Like I said, they're really committed. I think someone got whipped for destroying a wall or something before I got here. So, um, just be careful, okay?
[He may not be Bobby's Professor, but Bobby still doesn't want to see anything happen to him.]
Oh, also, you should probably know that people's abilities don't work as well here as they do back home. Bigger stuff might take more out of you than you're used to.
He's been pretty reclusive so far, but if he does, I'd definitely like to see that.
[...and now Bobby has to squash his knee-jerk reaction of going, 'No reason! No reason at all, I don't suspect you have telepathy or anything like that. Nope.']
Um. Well, people have all kinds of abilities here. I think I've met more people with them than without them, actually, which isn't the way it is on my world, but -
[Just stop talking, Bobby.]
Yeah. Anyway, I usually warn people, just in case. I know from personal experience that it really sucks having to find out about your new limitations the hard way.
Besides mine? A couple of shape shifters, someone who can talk to ghosts, another person who does stuff with fire. And then I've also met a gryphon, a giant robot, and a couple of trolls. It's, um. Kind of crazy. Yeah, my world. There's people from all kinds of worlds here, it's kind of cool learning about the differences.
[And he's definitely more than willing to talk about his own abilities. ...though it is kind of weird having to tell Charles Xavier what he can do.]
It's usually easier to show people.
[And here's the part where he'd normally suggest meeting up, but he's not sure he wants to be in the same room as Charles right then. So instead, he just clicks it over to video.
He waves, then props up the journal on his desk and takes a step back. His hands frost over slightly, and then ice extends from one to the other, forming a series of elaborate loops and swirls.]
[Hello, Bobby. Have you ever pictured your professor with hair? And... a hell of a lot younger? Even if not, there he is, watching this display with interest.]
Fascinating. Are you always capable of creating such displays, or does it require a certain amount of moisture in the air?
Yup. There's a few of them here. Some of them can only take one form, but others can do more than one.
[Yeah, no, he hasn't. And it's weirding him out a bit. Not helping the unsettling feeling is that he looks really familiar, and not in a 'oh, yeah, I know an alternate version of you' way. In an 'I just saw you the other day' way.
Also, that interest should not be making Bobby so pleased, but he can't stop himself from smiling.]
Always, as far as I know. I do usually use the moisture in the air to make them, but it doesn't really take that much.
[Except that it's bringing up a few unpleasant scenarios in his head. A shapeshifter taking more than one form... That's familiar. Tell him more, Bobby. You know you want to.]
I have never seen anyone with such a skill. You, my friend, are unique amongst the unique. A most intriguing mutation, if I may.
[Since Bobby probably wasn't even born when Charles played with Cerebro...]
It is! That's exactly the way I see it. She's definitely phenomenal.
[All right, he definitely needs to stop smiling so widely. Any minute now.]
I, um. Thanks. That means a lot.
[Coming from, well, anyone, actually, it's not like Bobby'll ever get tired of hearing people praise his mutation instead of condemning it. But especially from him. Even if he's not really the Professor, and he doesn't even know Bobby's name.]
I'm Bobby. Nice to meet you, even under the circumstances.
Yeah, a girl I've met here. I think I've only actually met three of the shifters, but I know I've seen more talking about it on these things.
[He's very careful not to mention any names. As free as he is with his own abilities, and as much as he knows he's seen them all talking about their own, to some degree, it's still not his place to say.
Especially not Raven's, considering how reluctant she'd been to tell him.]

We won't know until we make the attempt, will we?

[... Okay. Whipped. Good to know. Fortunately, Charles' abilities don't really lend themselves to property destruction.]
I'll... be sure to watch that. However, I'm curious...
'Abilities'. What do you mean by 'abilities', exactly? And why is it you'd think to warn me about a sudden lack of them?
[Because dhsfkjdsds he has a huge mental block right now that's driving him crazy. And hi, he'd like to know why.]

What sort of abilities have you experienced here? And... in your world?
[There's a pause.] And just what is it you can do, if I might ask?

She?
[Poker face, professor. Poker face. After all, it's not the boy's fault. And he looks like Charles just told him he won the lottery.]
Likewise, certainly. Ah, excuse me. Charles Xavier.

I'll have to look into it. I've always found mutations to be such a gift, when properly utilized.
