What did everyone think of the news reports...

...that were posted in the nightcity_siu community?

Were they interesting and informative enough?
Did they add to game ambience?
Do you want them to continue for the future game?

I like them and would like to see more. One suggestion. mr_rubix February 6 2006, 21:22:12 UTC
Perhaps cut the reports in multiple shorter posts. Something like how, when CNN reports on an unfolding story, they run periodic updates so as to not overwhelm folks with hundreds of lines of text.

Because Joe's post was, with all the pics and information, rather massive and could be fairly daunting to try and digest all at once.

Bah, just 'cause you don't read fast enough is no reason to slow the rest of us down. *grin*

Yes, Trey, you caught me. mr_rubix February 6 2006, 21:32:01 UTC
I never learned how to READ!

*ahem*

Consider it a polite attempt to reduce future headaches. You're familiar with my posts from Adventure! - you know I have no problem if people wish to be overly verbose. I do, however, notice when other players are getting stressed from information overload - and prefer that everyone have a great time if possible.

*snicker* Sorry, couldn't help it.

Agreed, however. I know I tend to skip some info and go for what I think is critical, but in the process I miss things; and Cody does process information better when it's in bite size chunks instead of one 12 oz. steak.

Or something like that.

I think they're great, though while I appreciate the pictures for further feel of the game, I think you might want to reduce it to just text and have the pictures seperate for reference as to who's who. It seems like hunting down the pics to be specific to the report might take up time that would be better used to generate more reports. As to continuing them, sure. The more the better.

E did the news stories for the last part of the game and she is a visual person. The pictures help her define the mood of the story. Since it's the finale we felt that it wouldn't be too over the top. So the length of Joe's post is not indicitive of the future news posts. The Vatican one is the best example of what we were discussing as a format for the future.

Ah, okay. Sounds good to me, then.

I liked it
It gave the story real time feel. OR a life feeling made the game 3-d instead of two-D

Cool, that was the idea. koed February 6 2006, 22:01:30 UTC
To give a breathe of life, the realistic sense that there are events occuring not only directly to the characters, but also all around them as well. That things they do in Night City also echo elswhere, and vice-versa.

Yep, I could picture Tonto all hyped up and wired and just about to jump out of the screen at me. I could just picture him there in the oval office continually getting closer and closer to the camera as he rants.

Doing things as news posts is great. Reduces the amount of 'roll-playing' to find out things that an average guy in 2020 passing by a newsbox would be able to find out in seconds. Also gives us "lines to read between." Keep them.
