218 G-Wing Translation

Oct 05, 2010 12:57

This is for corpus_yaoi who wanted something to compare her translations to. This is only the first section of this month's issue of the novel, but none the less here it is.

I had a fun time working on this, and depending on my work schedule this week I may or may not continue.

Here are translations of the previous chapters:

Kathy, the daughter of Sally Po is narrating. And it's what, 20 something years after the end of Endless Waltz. Everyone is grown up and doing preventer stuff, except Heero who was for some reason frozen alive. Now he's being thawed out.

And it appears to be a good set up for 1x2 fans. Hahaha ;) Unfortunately that's not me.

I just watched Eureka Season 2, Episode 7 and it dealt with cryonics plus a love story. If Sumisawa pulls a similar stunt, it'll be bittersweet. What happened is that the man they defrosted was still his twenty something self but, after a few days, cell regeneration caught up with him. He aged fifty years in a matter of days. In the end though, despite being wrinkly, he's reunited with his sweetheart who never believed for one second that he just left her. (He was shoved into a cryonics capsule in an attempted murder plot.)I don't know if Sumisawa will be smart enough to pull off something like that though. -_-

wouldn't the alternative be even wierder? He would wake up at 17(presumably after the whole Mariemaia thing) and everyone else is in their 50s or 60s? Cryogenics in any plot always comes off as either bittersweet or just plain 'WHAT JUST HAPPENED?'

Unless they've routinely been defrosting and refreezing him over the years as some kind of tool they only whip out when needed. >_> I hate this cryonics plot. Part of me is going "Please let this be a clone!" Actually, with two Heeros, doesn't that eliminate shipping wars? xD

that would actually be some intensely interesting angst right there. If the story wasn't ongoing and I wasn't sure it was going to prove otherwise, I'd drabble that! Talk about taking the 'perfect soldier' to the next level.

._. yeah the cryogenics is just bizarre, along with calling Heero Princess Aurora. xD

HAHA well, that's one way to unite the fandom! Assuming the clone has a different sexual orientation of course...

As much as I hate saying this, I think that Relena is dead. That would explain the familiar face of the angel surrounding Heero's capsule. Considering the hints at the end of chapter two, that angel is more than likely representing Relena. I don't think they would make the angel look like Relena if Relena was really there to watch over him. Also, the way Relena died may has something to do with why Heero 'ticked' or 'went bad' or however you want to say it. And i think that the amnesia was selective and he chose to forget only her, if he is able to forget her at all.

1xR is my favorite pairing and it makes me sad to think that this is what's going to happen, but part of me thinks the pairing would only work if she died. The way Heero reacts to it is will say everything, and if he goes as far as to switch sides because of it, that's saying A LOT. He was completely dedicated to the mission until he met her, so idk. I hope I'm wrong, though. It would make me REALLY happy if Relena was frozen too...but i highly doubt that :[

Thanks! I really like my translation too. Tee hee. I wanted it to read like a novel would in English, even though it meant adding some stuff to make it more 'fluent.'

Since there are two other people working on the translations at the moment I don't intend to continue. (Mostly coz it takes me a long time and I am a slave to my work, which I love btw.)

Check out my other translation work: http://kokoronomelody.livejournal.com/tag/translation
