This was an awesome day! Brought to you by awesome friends and an awesome major!

Today was a great day. I had Constructive Narrative today and I have decided that I will no longer sit in the back with my animation buddies. There are quite a few of us in that class and it is very fun to see and talk with them all. We are all very familiar with each other since we have been together for a year. The conversations are fun and can now stretch beyond “What’r you gunna do with yur displacement map?”

Additional tidbit about silly animators - There are three awesome girls and twenty hilarious junior guys in the program. We have been working on a walk cycle in the Graphic Design class. That means there is constantly some guy strutting (or gliding or mincing) past the glass wall and examining at his reflection. It is also quite necessary to flail your arms while asking whether “this” or “this” looks better during the critiques and general ridiculous behavior. (My walk does NOT look like a girl. Oh wait, I patterned it after you, James, so you are right - it must be a girly walk!)

Well, because our group is becoming so comfortable around each other, we jabbered through the entire two hours of Constructive Narrative. I did not hear a single thing Dean said. I only heard enough to know what I was missing. At least I have learned most of it already in AP English. (Thank you, Mrs. Horsley, once again I find myself indebted to you.) The extent of jabbering was not helped by the fact none of them like the class. I can understand disagreeing with a class, but their reasons for doing so I find disturbing.

The class is based around the breaking down and analysis of films and plays.

My program-mates asked - Why do we need to be able to analyze movies? Why bother knowing the details?

Can’t one just simply enjoy a movie without analyzing it?

(Sigh) They are missing the point.

Yes, it is true that a person does not need to know how a movie works to enjoy it; just as a person does not need to know how Neilson’s Custard is made to think it is divine. However, if you intend to make custard yourself, it is important to know the ingredients.

Are you not intending on making movies? Not just watching them?

You can do the special effects. Let me play with the story.

In between my classes, I talked to inu_tenshi  and began drawing my fruit, a cantaloupe I named Wadsworth, for my programming class that night. swalch  then came and talked to me, which was great (I have started to enjoy the benefits of having friends living within feet). Then eowyn_strong , mhovley , and ginyoku  came online at the same time and there was quite a conversation going on. Mostly with digital faces getting passed around. @_@

I went to New Testament and continued to draw Wadsworth. He was finished before class was half finished, and I put him away so people would stop looking at me weird. (What, don’t most people bring cantaloupes to class?)

Brent and the Graphic Studio class laughed at my cantaloupe. I was quite pleased. Half the class brought apples; the other class brought assorted vegetables. There was also a hybrid low-calorie avocado. Thanks for the idea, mom! I had the largest and coolest fruit. (smug look) Brent kept talking about how awesome, and nasty hard, my fruit will be when it is done. Bring it on!

The day finished spectacularly well. I got out of class an hour early, and when I came back, I was invited to a roommate cookie-brownie-hot chocolate party. That was very fun. pineapples33  and arleejenson  were both there. I enjoyed pinapples presence (I am going to miss her *sniff*) and I enjoyed Arlee’s cookies. ^_^ (I wonder when arlee and I are going to get brave enough to talk about each other on LJ) ;)

Balltag , Swalch , and I talked about Cloud Nine and I think we scared our roommates. Oh well, they needed to know how geeky we are sooner or later. I enjoyed it thoroughly. We worked through a newly rehashed beginning, which is working much better, and stayed up till one. Oh so fun!

Great day. What a great day.
