So, today, I wake up, and head off to SCA practice, mostly to watch until I get used to it again. I'll probably get around to getting some basic equipment sometime soon and get back in armor. God damnit, Jess. You were the only friend I had left that didn't converse compulsively about guns, and now I've lost even you. Well, scratch that. There's Trin, but but between a full time job and being a single parent, he has about 6 minutes a week to talk.

As far as the rush of being in pain concept, I can tell you with a fair degree of certainty that I definitely had no rush whatsoever when I dislocated my shoulder at CJ's wedding. Nor the many times I got my ass kicked. Nor any other time I can remember vividly (Summer 97 - summer 98 being stricken from the record for obvious reasons).

I think a lot of it is the reminder that you're alive. People start to fade in and out of really living, hazing back towards just being there. I think that's why extreme sports are so popular.

We're mortal beings after all, in a world where our immortality is denied only by age. Gotta be stupid and barbaric for a while.

hmm.
I find i use my lj more as a message board- kind of a "here's what i did so i don't have to tell the five people who might care individually" thing. At this point i actually don't know if i'd feel comfortable posting anything i'd thought about and written, whether it was fiction or essay. Not that i've written anything recently.
