Kittens and Gasoline

After tonights game at my brother's house, as wiredforsound and I were talking outside, getting ready to leave, the cutest little kitten wandered up. It was Orange with lighter orange stripes. It hung around for a bit, and as a car was coming by I called it over, to make sure it didn't get squished. And since it was being so friendly and nuzzling ( Read more... )

When I saw the topic of this entry (Kittens and Gasoline) I rather thought you had snapped finally.

And I can't donate either, as every cent I currently have is tied up in food, tuition, bills and rent.

yeah, it was probably a somewhat ill-considered statement, but the basic premise was that one should attempt to donate if at all possible...

And yes the same thing occurred to me about my title after I posted it, to make it worse, as I was leaving work I noticed the pawprints on my hood, of course for some reason the thought ran through my mind something along the lines of "It's Paw's are still on my hood" which just sounds horrible...

This has nothing to do with turtledawn's assertation that if I had money for cigarettes, I should give money to a charity. While I quit a month ago due to the choice between food and nicotine being a no brainer, the point was still valid nonetheless ( ... )

i guess we were looking at this at the same time, then, because i deleted that comment as soon as i posted it. I'm sorry if i offended you; it wasn't my intent, and when i realized it could be seen that way removed the remark. Again, I'm sorry.

No offense whatsoever. In fact, the point was extremely valid, and I probably would have enacted it upon reading it had I not quit already. I had the Pat Robertson tirade in my head the entire ride home (probably about 50 minutes) and it actually got shortened or condensed (much less cursing) after a good deal of mental proofreading. Again, no offense whatsoever.

I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from helping people. It doesn't help me to get through my day by giving me the knowledge that I've benefited someone else. In most cases, I honestly could give a rat's ass less what most people are going through, because most cases of hardship that I've come across deal with people who won't even attempt to help themselves, but chastise and curse anyone who don't help them in turn. I am more than willing to either help people who are willing to help themselves, or people who can't (notice can't, not won't) help themselves. The victims of Karina fall into these two categories, which is why I did what I did this morning, and which is why I will do the same thing (blood discounted for the time being) tomorrow morning, and the morning after, and so on and so on, until there's nothing more I can do to help. Not because it makes me feel good, but because it's the right thing to do. When a homeless person asks me for food money, the first thing out of my mouth is "Let me buy you something to eat." If they ( ... )
