In library school we learn to refer to libraries and museums and historical societies and the like as cultural institutions. These abound in Dublin; today I saw a bunch of them. Missed a bunch, too. Tomorrow we head west.

B's mom wanted us to find the church where her father was baptized. We are here and it is fun! I have a few technical issues that make posting weird, so you might not see anything fabulous from me but it was easy getting here and the place we're staying is nice, on the top floor of a six-story building.

Today is the day. I'm looking forward to traveling with the kids. Hope we all behave ourselves. You may have noticed that I had to play some catch-up with the numbers this weekend. One thing I missed when I moved a few years ago was the ubiquity of 7-11s. They're out there, but you have to know just where to look. In the DC metro area it is unusual to go a mile in any direction without running across one. Mini-marts do abound elsewhere and I should have been just fine but I wasn't. While V spent her first week of summer vacation in Ohio, I was in charge of Netflix, her new pet goldfish. She's due home in less than a day and Netflix is hanging in there. Whew! I signed up for the classroom part of it to do this upcoming semester and then I sent out a bunch of letters asking various types of libraries if they might have a spot for me.
