A quick update.

One: Today is the one year anniversary of the release of the Colemak keyboard layout. I’ve been using it since mid-October, and absolutely love it. I’m still typing a bit slowly, but I make hardly any mistakes now. Anyone that spends more than half an hour a day typing should at least look into the layout. It’s that good ( Read more... )

Well, I've known that things were going poorly at my store for a while now, but now things have finally been resolved. This week, the boss laid everyone off and replaced us all with his mother-in-law, who doesn't need to be paid an hourly wage. Well, after three days of not writing, I finally sat down and forced myself to put some new words down. It came slowly and painfully, and the end result is probably not worth reading. I'm now on Part Two, and that means new characters, new setting and a new story arc. Sadly, the new characters are still very flat, the new setting is pretty bland ( Read more... )

One of the things that I noticed recently is that since my NaNo Report Card tracks both daily and ongoing performance, I still feel compelled to keep up a very strict pace even when I am significantly ahead of schedule. I may be way, way ahead by the overall picture, but if I slow down on any one single day it still stands out in bright red. This ( Read more... )

Well, five days in and I'm just over a quarter done. Which is pretty awesome, I must say. It's entirely possible that I'll be done the first third by the end of the day tomorrow, although I'm not convinced that Part One of three will actually fit in the first third of the word count - I may have to *gasp* write more words! Well, Chapter Six started rather slowly...one of the problems with a story where the characters visit all kinds of interesting locations (warning, may not actually be interesting until description is added in the second draft) is that they tend to spend a rather lot of time traveling around from place to place, which tends to make for narration ( Read more... )

I'm done the first two day of NaNo. Or, alternately, I'm done the first four days, since I've written more than twice as many words as I need to finish on the thirtieth. Either I can ease up a lot later in the month, or I'm on track to finish early ( Read more... )

It's getting pretty exciting now!

I'm not planning on staying up until midnight to start writing, so I've still got 24 hours left to go until I start.

I'm pretty much ready to go...anything I don't have figured out yet, I'll figure out on the fly while writing.
