Wow. I've been out of the loop for a while. No particular reason. Just fell out of it, I guess. The New York trip really rearranged my psyche. I'm still not sure what the end result is, but I'm here and I keep moving forward

Just speaking as a next-door neighbor, I wouldn't call this dog very serious, exactly! To me she usually seems to be laughing... ;-)

I hadn't realized how enigmatic her expression was until I re-examined the photo. I can definitely see the serious interpretation. Perhaps it's the result of a concerted effort to ignore the fact that right behind her is a tree decorated with BALLS! That she has so far resisted the temptation to grab one and make off with it is a wonder. The laughing interpretation might also be attributed to the fact that right behind her is a tree decorated with BALLS! She's just biding her time until I'm out of sight and she can plan her fun-filled attack. All of this reminds me that T. was looking at a different photo of her the other night and remarked that she looked exactly like the Mona Lisa. She is still very magical and mysterious to us, which is not what I expected ina dog. Our cats? Yes. But Butter has been an ongoing surprise.
