Preparations

A busy weekend spent making preparations for the puppy, including the building of a fence! Thanks to neighbor M for this photo. Don't be fooled, though -- hitting that post with a sledgehammer was the extent of my work on the fence. T did all the labor, through the high heat and humidity. He's a trooper, and it looks great. Trusting mode is probably the way to start with any big life decision like this anyway. Sorry though...I hate when life makes us do stuff like...well..trust. Geez.

I agree. Tony's having a harder time dealing with the trusting thing, but he'll be fine. Once he sees that puppy, he will melt all over the place. (But any words of wisdom you have for him will be most appreciated!)

The only thing I can say is that I truly believe two things: one is that the puppy that you get will be the right puppy, and the other is that Annette has read and payed attention to your emails and is good at picking out the right puppy. Oh, and a third thing...all those puppys look adorable and fantastic to me!

And on the practical side of things, I don't think it would be at all out of line to write her and tell her that you're feeling nervous because you don't know which puppy is your puppy yet, or anything about her, and you're worried that maybe she has forgotten that you wanted a people-oriented therapy dog. Let her do some soothing; you've already paid to be reassured by her!

There is no doubt at all in my mind that the litter of puppies has several calm, lovely therapy-minded dogs in it. I don't get why she hasn't told you which one she has picked out for you...but I do believe you'll get a great dog!
