Slumber party

No matter how hot and humid the day, it's a little better when you have a poodle sleepover party. Our neighbors loaned us their dog, Zoe, for a slumber party last night, and that puppy is the best morning dog. I'm not a morning person, but she could turn me. She doesn't exactly make you want to jump out of bed and be productive -- far from it. ( Read more... )

We quite enjoyed our Night Without Zoe, so don't you worry! We're not really that generous; a huge part of it is self-serving! It was just a sort of quiet night (not that she's loud or anything) -- one less animal (large) moving around and needing an invitation up onto the bed... not having to put up the baby gate at the stairwell (Ben of course appreciated that) or take out the trash immediately... and being able to go for a bike ride first thing without getting the look of melancholy from the poodle that wants to be walked. Thank you.

And don't worry that you might have to "return the favor" with your puppy! We will absolutely be delighted if you ever need us to (let us) babysit, whether for 10 minutes or 10 days, but don't feel that you have to start sending her over for sleepovers before you're totally ready.

I like the curly fluffy oatmeal image!

You are so sweet, and I have no doubt that you'll be called upon to babysit. And, of course, you're welcome at any time just to come over and get a heaping helping of puppy snuggles -- considering all the deposits that Zoe has put into the love bank over here, you can make a lot of withdrawals and never even come close to being overdrawn. And thank you for your understanding that my separation anxiety will probably be far worse than the puppy's for some time -- wow, this is going to be a life-changing addition to our home.
