I saw Gloria Steinem speak today. I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know that much about her, other than that she started Ms. magazine and is one of the founders of the modern feminist movement. Wasn't she amazing? (I was also there through a friend's generosity -- actually, the generosity of the mother of a friend of mine.) I just couldn't get over how "there" she was, you know? I mean, she's earned the right to coast after so many years of fighting for what she believes in on such a national scale, but she just doesn't. She came prepared and committed and focused and gave herself to the day and to the cause. And the fact that she donated her time is pretty incredible to me, too. I have to say, I was inspired by her after only a half an hour. What a great opportunity. I'm sorry I didn't see you there and get to say hello!

An officemate of mine was also there, and she came back to the office with the butterfly story too.

Yeah, I feel for the literal caterpillar too! Especially if it was a Woolly Bear.
