Effects of nasty cold have been momentarily forgotten as I just found out that I was accepted into the Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology program at U. Maryland! And I will be visiting (oooh a whole 5 metro stops away) on March 9 to check it out!

Stupid stupid stupid cold. I can't remember the last time I was this congested and, to top it all off, I sound like a 3-pack-a-day smoker. I'm sure the drinking, going out to bars, and walking around in the freezing cold/sleet/snow didn't help any, but everyone knows that BEING cold (and alcohol!) doesn't actually cause colds... right ( Read more... )

I have emerged from the livejournal depths to say... I GOT INTO GRAD SCHOOL! Duke sent me a nice acceptance letter today for their Master's program in Environmental Science at the Nicholas School! And they're offering me money, which is doubly nice. And I have an interview tomorrow with a non-profit temp agency.

So my Powerbook battery has started to deteriorate, and it now gets about 1.5 hours instead of almost 3. In all fairness, it's almost 2 years old, but it's still a bummer.

And then Nils told me today that they've been known to catch fire, so I can get 2 brand-spanking new batteries! HOORAY FOR RANDOM FIRE!

Can anyone recommend a cheap but good mouse to replace my shitty Microsoft one? It's not that old and it's never worked right. It clicks when it shouldn't, and now the wheel isn't working. GRRRRRR.

Girl 2: I heard that they were made by colleges, so the students could come and throw up fast.

So I've been living in DC for 6 weeks now, and I'm absolutely loving it. We've been in our new place for almost 2 weeks - pretty much everything is unpacked although an Ikea trip will definitely be necessary.
