Seriously one of my favorite animes ever. I hope they don't mess it up.

No need to worry. It's a massively shopped image.

It'll be just as good as the live action Hollywood version of Akira! Or Steven Spielberg's other anime adaptation, the Lupin the III movie! Or that totally awesome Evangelion movie that the fine folk at WETA worked so hard on! Though none of those were as neat as James Cameron's take on Battle Angel Alita.

...Wait, none of those actually ever happened? Huh.

(Also, the shoopage is strong with these pictures.)

Weta is pissed/upset about EVA hahahahhaah I saw a video about them like "oh yeah....eva....." they rolled their eyes. They really want the project but don't see it in the future.

and its not like ghost will be done anytime soon. giver 1 - 2 years. Spielberg's working on Tintin, Transformers 2 and some other stuff.

I remember a couple of years ago they announced plans to make a live action movie, but I hadn't heard anything since then...are these really official images? They look so shopped...

even if image two is photoshopped, its a pretty awesome image...just...why mess with GiTS? making it live action just messes with the whole 'cyborg' vibe...

who knows they may never even produce it......I wonder what the license/contract said when they signed it over to Dreamworks.

Someone posted an interview not long ago, I think it was with Spielberg and I'm pretty sure they are planning on making the movie. I'm personally pretty excited. Of course, it could suck, but I'm hoping it won't.

That will make two upcoming live action adaptations of favorite animated shows: Gits:Sac and Avatar.

It's either going to be VERY GOOD or not good at all. If Production IG is involved then we might be ok.

Put it this way....if Ghost In the Shell is GOOD - it could lead to a 3rd Season of the Series, more toys, manga/etc. It could really be tapped into......and I'm not sure if thats good or bad - depends on how long they would plan to do that.

If its bad on the other hand - then it means that they probably won't even consider it part of the series. The Series itself is historic - one of the best anime shows out there.

The only problem with a US market is that they may complain about the lead being Japanese.....staying true to the series may be hard to do with the demands of viewership. I mean Iron-man is a white guy so its not hard, but with Ghost in a Shell.......hard to say what/where they will take it.

Let's hope that turns out to be good. The series was so high above the standards that Dreamworks, or anyone trying to mimic it, is likely to f*ck it up.
