movie/director mismatches

I watched Sin City today, which was pretty great, and then Sleepy Hollow, which was not. I saw the majority of "Primer" today and thoroughly enjoyed what I saw.
I was thinking Kubrick the entire time and then looked at the box...
Something to the effect of "The most Kubrick movie in years..."
Heh. Good story though and the technical talk didn't sound stilted.

Interesting question - have to think about it.

I would start with Quentin Tarantino for A History of Violence, which I thought fell flat because Cronenberg could not make the violence relate to the characters. Maybe I'm alone in thinking this.
