phone dilemma

so I called Cingular, the customer service and the store to find out if I can have 2 phone numbers on 1 cell phone. Both said "no". flat out. I want to keep my current number for obvious reasons, it's my personal line, and also because it is not long distance for my family to call me from home. I think call waiting will still work w/ a forwarded number. You aren't gonna know which line the person is calling though.

Jon used to have vonage, and that's what he did, it rang through to his cell if he didn't answer his desk phone. Of course he never answered his cell either, and his voicemail box was always full.

I feel that it's good to have one number that goes with you a long way. As you market your business, you want people to know where and how to reach you at all times. That number shouldn't have to change. I do know my uncle has had one number at love plumbing and remodel that he has moved around for years and he would just forward it to his cell phone, or home phone where ever he was.

Personally I have one Seattle number that I have had for years, however there are a lot of services out there where you can pay a monthly fee for a number and just forward it to where ever you want to be. Many also provide fax to email services which are handy.
