There was a time when the car to buy if you wanted to feel safe, regardless of your driving ability or attention span, was a Volvo. The problem with the result from your observations is proportion.

That is, there are a comparatively small number of Volvos on the road (compared to toyota, ford or holden). So, it becomes easier to generalise.

There are a LOT of Toyotas. And a LOT of them are Camrys. Even if there are a lot of a bad Camry drivers, proportionally it probably isn't statistically significant.

This depends on which significance you are looking for. I'm not suggesting that all Camry drivers are bad, just that a majority of drivers who don't want to be distracted by the unnecessary complications of knowing how to drive are choosing a Camry.

On the way home from the airport, I saw only one (yes, amazing, but it was late at night) example of bad driving. Some idiot dawdling in the right lane of the freeway, such than even a cab flashed his headlights at him. Yep, a Camry.
