OMG. I am so skeeved for you. Maybe it's time for a second opinion from an exterminator? We switched companies (for other reasons, mostly getting the runaround and it costing us $$$) and are MUCH happier with the service and how they helped us with our mouse problem in the fall.
Ooooooooohhhhh no. That sounds horrible, Kris! I'm so sorry! I really hope that the smell fades quickly. Ick.
When I was in high school, I was eating breakfast one day and suddenly felt like I was being watched--there was a SQUIRREL sitting on the baker's rack in the kitchen watching me eat. We think he got in through a vent in the attic--do you have one of those??
I *so* love the way that you write. You have turned a very uncomical situation to quite an amusing one at the very least! That stinks (no pun in tended) about the smell- how gross! Hopefully a solution will come!
Icky. We've had critters die in the walls, but the smell never got THAT bad. It'd fade eventually...like, after a few days. And your swarms of flies, gads! Sounds like Amityville. I hope you're able to find a solution that doesn't involve tearing down drywall.
We're dealing with a similar situation right now. A bird built a nest and had babies right off our back patio. Well, as per usual with nature, not all the babies made it. So now the well birds left the nest and left behind are 2 dead baby birds who couldn't. It's great that it's outside - BUT, it's right off one of the only windows in our house that opens and it's starting to smell.
I'm just trying to work up the guts to go clean the nest up and remove it. I just can't look at those baby birds though. I wonder if an exterminator would remove it - I bet they would....
