The recent article from the British FSA (Food Standards Agency) claims that organically raised foods are no better than conventionally raised foods based on a meta-analysis. This has been widely reported on with few details given ( Read more... )

This afternoon, casner6 and I were discussing this study with our CSA/grassfed farmers. The two of you have had an unintentional race the last week or so with news about the bill and other food issues. If you ever visit, I can see that you need to see their operation.

It is also sort of interesting to think that just as we appreciate many of the same folks in Livermore, you would fit in here as well.

The food safety bill is quite an issue here in Oklahoma, but I'm afraid we will have little influence in the matter. You might think that California would have a lot to say about "local" food, but I was told that small producers made up such a small part of the CA farm business, that they held no polictical power and to expect to no help from CA in opposing this bill... oh well.

We truly enjoyed your visit and I hope we manage to make it up your way sometime.
