i figured this out when i worked out in college...
the scale is a terrible way see if you lost weight. while you may have lost fat more than likely you gained muscle mass. which won't show up on the scale.
p.s. when not eating the first thing that goes is muscle mass then fat.
oh, the flu is definitely the best weight-loss plan in the world, my sister and i coulda told you that.
and the not eating thing, that does have a lot to do with it... ;)
don't get too frustrated... each person is different so obviously different methods work for different people. Maybe you need some more agressive way to lose the weight but then your body is really good with the diet for maintaining what weight you're at...???? I dunno, i'm definitely no personal trainer.
remember that combining eating well and working out will result first in a difference in a way you look/feel and then a difference in how much you weigh. Muscle tissue ways roughly three times more than fat and, in the early stages of exercise, it builds quickly. You may, in fact, be dropping fat but you're gaining muscle density and the scale doesn't know the difference. Relax. Focus on how you feel. Once your body reaches a plateau of muscle density the fat tissue will keep burning steadily and give you the scale reading you want.
Weight is one of many measurements that define health.

Well, obviously I'm back to eating since I am well again. I am still hoping the 5 pounds will stay off. I don't know how to figure this all out!

None of them are as important as how you feel.
