I have a cat who's an escape artist, so this story really got to me. I have no idea what he's thinking when he runs away, or when he comes back and paws at the door like he's being chased by the Huns. I really enjoyed Cassie's perspective, and the total breakdown of the humans made perfect sense to me. Also, there were moments that I thought it wasn't going to have a happy ending, so I'm grateful that it did.
I am grateful, too! This all happened Friday and Saturday. I have no idea what Cassie did while she was out. I just didn't want to think that she was outside, terrified.
That must have been terrifying. I find it interesting how Cassie is so nonchalant about the whole thing. We had a similar situation with one of our cats, so I have so much sympathy for this. I'm glad you were reunited.
John thinks I gave Cassie too much confidence in her story. He believes she most likely hid in the hole most of the time. But, I didn't want to think of her as scared.

Thank you! It's pretty much a true story. Well, I had to guess about Cassie's adventures.

So glad for the happy ending.
I learned that if you leave the garage door open a bit, they often come in at night.

I've heard that, too. But we don't have a garage. :-(

It started off only being told from Cassie's pov, but I kind of got stuck. When I had the idea to alternate points of view, it flowed much better!
