(I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANT A ~RESPONSE~ TO THIS BUT I LOVE THIS POST SO I'M DOING IT ANYWAY)
As much as it breaks my heart when Torchwood characters die, I think it works for the series (to steal a quote from TVTropes, a lot of these ~elite crimefighting teams~ say "Oh everyone on our team dies young," but the whole team ends up surviving like six seasons, while Torchwood actually makes good on that promise) and the characters die with a sense of closure. On the other hand, as much as I like him and his work, I always feel like Joss Whedon uses character deaths to screw with people. idk idk.
Yeeeah...I mean since I haven't seen Buffy or Angel I can hardly call myself well versed in...the Whedonverse (well Whedonversed? why do I always need to do this with words), but I can see why people say that. At the same time I don't really think all of the Torchwood deaths were necessary. Owen's in particular feels a little unfair since he'd just gone through an arc of learning to appreciate life and discovering he still wanted to live it a few episodes before they killed him off, which I guess one could say just serves to make it more tragic, but it just feels kind of wrong to me. Though apparently Ianto was originally going to be the zombie in the second series, so maybe Owen's death in the finale was a leftover plan from then that they didn't change and it made more sense then? (Though I can't imagine zombie!Ianto at all. It fit Owen so well and I'm glad it was him

OMG NO IT IS GOOD THAT YOU TEEL DEARED BECAUSE I HAVE THOUGHTS ON THIS BUT I NEVER KNOW HOW TO VOICE THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE FOR THE LACK OF SENSE THIS IS GOING TO MAKE

Right, you have a point about Owen. Idk, I don't even know what to say about anything post-second series, because the show just changed so much. The first two series are where it's at for me. You're spot on with the H!P/AKB thing, and it's...ugh. I was a lot more optimistic about Miracle Day a few weeks back, but at this point it's kind of Mehracle Day. It's sort of dragging on and not a lot is happening.
It's funny, given this conversation, because one of the people who worked on it also worked on Buffy, Firefly and Dollhouse, but...speaking of the 2/3 of those I've seen, anyway, those > Miracle Day. Lol at the connection though
