whitecollarspeak is a pestilence of the corporate age

i love my job. ferrls. but i would love it a lot more if the following words/phrases retreated back to their homes in the Land of Actual Linguistic Signification, or else died an unmourned death:
  • aligned
  • disconnect
  • reach out
  • get our arms around
  • meet you halfway

Motherfucking tweak. This is very similar to a list of words that are overused at non-profits that some other internet friends of mine came up with.
The big one, other than"tweak:" "sustainable."

The one that gets a vein to throb in my head is "actualize."

The last time someone used it, I actually looked at her and said, "Are you fucking kidding me?" I couldn't even hold it in. Not so much a fan of "leverage" either. Christ.

So, I was trolling on LJ looking for something and I came across this. I am sorry to say (really, really sorry) that half of these terms are now in my frequently-used vocabulary list. God it sucks to be a consultant sometimes. I'm so ashamed of myself.

:P
