(Edited to add -- and that didn't come out the way I intended, I just mean that I enjoyed it and am not feeling very articulate today but yes. XD)

I think that to Damian, birthdays are not about being happy and silly (well, when is he ever, though). They're about competition and pride and hope. Dick and Tim might think that his birthday tradition is sad or undesirable and should be changed, but to Damian his memories are positive and precious. I totally agree that Damian and Bruce understand each other very well despite some fundamental differences. Batman and Robin was one of the only two books that really appealed to me in the New 52 and probably the only one I will continue to buy, and that was because of how the writer deliberately explored the relationship between Bruce and his son.
Thanks for writing! I appreciate it!

Oh, that is Damian in a nutshell, isn't it? I love Bruce cutting off his first request, and that you leave it up to us to know what it would have been (I think I do!)
