oh, that definitely wasn't directed at you specifically. people are so judging it based on its fantards. also, i thought that post you linked was awesome and if i was interpreting certain things her way then i would have agreed. however, i believe that you can read your own beliefs into a book and just read from the author's (unintended) perspective.
I hope I haven't dissed Twilight without mentioning that I'm not part of the target audience, and that I haven't read it. I read much much worse fluff! (Fairy princess porn? I have no right to diss anything!)
I can't belive I'm admitting this...cultstatus_bo0mDecember 5 2008, 04:08:58 UTC
The first half of the movie was crap and it didn't explain ANYTHING. The second half was much better, but it was still good enough to make me want to read the books and a TON of stuff online (THAT'S RIGHT, MR. ST.JOHN!) After reading a TON of stuff online I went to see it again and all the stuff that didn't make sense had a point and it was MUCH better. They also have admitted that they made a misleading preview, by including a lot of action in it, so that it would sucker the boys in.. but that's what they get for not finding out what it's actually about.

Who wrote this? Giving the first two to Jessica Jackson or Jessica Runyan? I hope not Runyan... cause Becca and I were gonna give her the first two books...
Oh darling, this is one of the many reasons I adore you! I can't tell you how annoying it is for me to explain to people that I enjoy Twilight as fluff (and the movie wasn't half bad!) but I don't consider it good writing at all. It's more of a guilty pleasure, it doesn't have the best storyline, there are some things that just don't make sense or are plain stupid, but it's an interesting read.
well, i differ from you slightly in that i think it was decently written and i'm not sure what didn't make sense or is stupid. but then again, i'm a take it like it is kind of person and people usually have to explain to me what isn't right about whatever it is.

I haven't read the books, so I'll refrain from any direct criticism of the series, but I'd like to say a few words on whether or not a thing is open to criticism based on intent

i totally agree with what you're saying david. a lot of the people i was reacting to were saying things like "sparkly vampires! lame!" instead of being intelligent about it
