Which scenario is better?

A) Believe in something only to discover that it's nonexistent and have your heart broken.
B) Expect the worse and be pleasantly surprised when you are proven wrong.

Net benefit of cost should ideally be positive,
But "benefit" and "cost" are really just arbitrary concepts.

The second one is definitely better. Mostly because it starts with heart break and ends in something good. Starting with something good and then having your heart broken is way worse.

It's so difficult to stay optimistic as you grow older. and it's so difficult to really trust something.
