This morning starts off with a warm cup of honey-ginger tea, grapefruit and a couple of pages of Rich People Problems. Once the rice cooker beeps, I'll make Ryu's lunch box, do the dishes and bring in the laundry. Then it's off to the dentist, the hospital, and then back home for a meeting with a client for a few months of translation and editing ( Read more... )

What a relief to be out on your maternity leave. It sounds like you will stay with his parents for awhile, that will be a huge help for you. Very excited to hear you will be starting a family XOXO

Yes, Ryu's mother suggested we stay 3 months....but that's a bit too long for me to be away from home, so I'm going to stay for just one month, 1.5 months tops.

Three months does sound quite long. Maybe just see how it goes though? So excited for you!

With everything we have to do, 3 months would be impossible anyway. The offices we need to go to are far from our home, and even farther from his family's home. The offices want everything done within the first month so :/ :/ I want to minimize the time a 4 week old has to spend on a crowded train in the middle of winter and covid.
I'm thinking maybe two weeks.

I hope you enjoy your mat leave and find time to relax. I've started the first long stretch of my semi-retirement this month (I'm off for three months) and I can identify with what you say about how you think there's going to be nothing to do, but how the days manage to fill up with lots to do.

There is so much to do that I wonder if I'll have time to relax. So far we are one week in, and I have only 3 weeks left until hospitalization, and I still haven't tackled half the things I need to do, nor created a plan for everything I need to do after.

What sucks is that even if I wanted to get everything done quickly, I have to kind of work on the hospital and government office timelines. Ugh. All this running around and not even getting paid for it!

Almost makes me want to go back to work sooner than later. At least I'll have income then, lol.

It's so good to hear from you again :)

Fingers crossed that the extra work doesn't stress you out too much.

I do hope that you have a great leave *^^*

Oh, it's nothing but stress! Luckily, I'm quite used to stress, so it's like I'm still working, minus the pay :P

6 months leave? Not too shabby. I hope it goes smoothly!

Not too bad, but definitely sucks that almost none of it will go to recuperating. My first two are filled with...paper work and prep. The last four filled with...paperwork, prep, meetings, and government nonsense.

I'd take a shorter maternity leave with less stress in a heartbeat. At least then I'm getting paid to run around pointlessly.
