There are so many Japanese traditions I would love to do with my baby, and I just wrote a short paper about the ritual of Okuizome お食い初め , which I can actually do at home. Be safe, but I hope you get to enjoy everything in January!
We haven't really thought about what traditions we will and won't follow but we know we want a fair balance of Latin-American and Japanese tradition being implemented. It also depends on how much Ryu's parent's push us to do certain things, lol.
It's gone by both fast and slow. I'm in that grey area where I'm pregnant, very much so, but haven't gone through any major chances, so it doesn't feel like I'm pregnant. Makes it hard to be as careful as I should, lol.
That was extremely polite of you guys to inform your neighbors. Is that a common thing people in Japan do? Also, It's a baby, they will cry, they will cry when they want to cry, it doesn't stop because people have to work for home. Your neighbor has so unrealistic expectations. >.> Hopefully you want have any issues with them when ya settle back in there.
Definitely cheaper than the traditional KFC Bucket of chicken, that's for sure! Although, I do love some good fried chicken.
Hm. I'm not sure if it's common? It was simply something I thought would be polite to do. After all, their peace is being inconvenienced because of us. I know that back in the day, it used to be common to greet neighbors when you just moved in, as a courtesy, but that's a dying habit. Related to birth though.... no idea.
There aren't any other families with newborns here in my building. Most tend to move out relatively quickly.
ha ha, yes! I remember those long lines! I never did participate in the tradition though. I think I went to KFC maybe one time in the 5 years I was there.
Yeah, I knew about the formal introduction and bringing gifts when ya moved in. Just curious about the baby aspect of it. Very polite and considerate of you to do. :)
Before, I never had a KFC near me, so I was never really tempted to go since I didn't have it in sight. When I moved and found one near me, I learned that the butter-milk biscuits had been discontinued, which killed my remaining interest for a while.
Now, we have a car so we can go easily, but Ryu doesn't like fried chicken. I go on my own occasionally after doctor appointments, but only ever get the twisty wraps. Since it's just me, I can't justify a bucket, lol.
I tried checking google about it, and there doesn't seem to be a set etiquette when it comes to babies. Probably because most new moms go back to their parent's homes and don't have to deal with apartment neighbors for a while.
