any culture that allows doctors to kill near-born children but bans spanking is more than a little bit confused on the question of fundamental human dignity.

wait a minute im confused. are you saying then, that life begins at conception? after the first cell of fertilization divides?

kind of. i dont know what the standard definition of "life" is, but human "being" starts with the first cell division just as a sky scraper starts by laying the first brick.
