Making a player-friendly DVD from videos you download off the intertubes is suprisingly frustrating. But I've done it with a combination of shareware and a built-in Windows tool, after more advanced options failed me. Apparently MPEG-2 conversion is very picky.
Now I can watch this classic example of early horror cinema on the TV screen instead of ( Read more... )

Hrmm couldn't directly connect your laptop to the TV and use the TV as a 2nd monitor to play said movie? That's how I would do it.

Laptop is out of commission indefinitely due to the backlighting being borked.
