Little brother's pickup truck got stolen while he was out with some friends tonight. Had his wallet inside, and a bunch of other stuff that's expensive and likely to get sold. He's filed a police report, we'll have to see if our (or someone else's) insurance will cover anything ( Read more... ) -

Today I clocked out of that factory for the last time. Put 55 hours on the clock for the week, which equates to about 67.5 hours of normal pay. Not a bad last paycheck ( Read more... ) -
So...
Told the Human Resources guy that I just can't make the hours work, and so can't commit to this job on a long-term basis. I offered to stay on for as long as it takes the department to stabilize (we've had people out a lot), he made it sound like it'll last about through the end of the week.
Now to throw myself back into job hunting and tech -

For a task that's nominally confined to sitting in a chair and shooting glass at stuff, my job involves a surprising amount of heavy lifting. So by the end of a 5.5 day workweek, I'm pretty sore. Woo three day weekend! Wait, damn! Almost over...
Mom's okay, getting annoyed with the whole "pipe sticking out of her neck" thing that is a tracheotomy. She's breathing, eating, and drinking much better than before the procedure, but due to not being at her grueling job all day is having trouble staying asleep at night. After driving twice as long as I slept last night, mom's back and has had a nurse drop by to help her get more acquainted with the various tracheotomy accouterments that keep the plastic bits sticking out of her throat from gumming up.
