It's halfway or more through the first semester of sophomore year at college. It's been a great semester, although not really for my grades. The pre-med adviser at a meeting pointed to a schedule labeled "sophomore year: 1st semester" that contained the exact same classes I am taking and more and announced "this is going to be the worst semester of ( Read more... )

It's kinda funny how you mention the treatment of elders in the US and China. We were discussing societies in economics today and how the US has more developed support systems than say, China. Therefore, the elders depend on the children more so in China than in the US which is why we see the difference between the two countries. Just kinda ironic that you wrote about it.

I look forward to seeing more entries!

well honestly i'm really glad that you are finding hospital volunteer work such a meaningful and enriching experience. it definitely isn't my bag, i prefer teaching somehow, i'm not that gd at talking w ppl i think.

anyway seriously if you're not sure if you want to be a doctor, don't enrol in med school. i dont believe in doing a job because it offers security, but i honestly believe that if you do something you're passionate about, you're likely to be good at it and hence more likely to excel in it, which should make you a valuable asset regardless of the economic situation.

a doctor's life is very tough, and the stakes are so high. and somehow i dont think researching is the same as dealing with patients etc...but i'm not sure that's just my guess (;
