Yes it does, but that's not a bad thing. Just remember, it's the geeks who have all the money now (hey, take a look a Bill Gates and tell me he's not a geek).
Still, labels given by others have no meaning. Labels we chose for ourselves are little more than way to help others understand that we do have an identity, even if we have to fold, spindle, mutilate, and catagorize it for their comprehension.
There are of course corallaries like... Just cause I'm a geek doesn't mean I know how to or care to fix your computer. or Just because a someone's racist doesn't mean they have pale skin and live south of the mason dixon line. or Just cause I buggerred your cat doesn't mean.... Oh wait yes it does....
