"It's Been Emotional."

I made my first foray into internet fandom on June 17, 1997. It was on "Believe the Lie", an X-Files website devoted to posting and discussing theories about what really happened to Mulder after the fourth season finale. I went looking for that site today only to discover that, amazingly, my post is still up ( Read more... )

I think we're all nearing that age and time in our life now ... priorities get shifted. Life happens, and we change with it. Your post is beautiful, and I think we have pretty similar stories. I started out on the IcedTea mailing list and Ryan's movie site (for Fight the Future) and those led me to Haven (who were you on Haven? I'm smallpotato1). After XF ended, I moved on to Alias and then Gilmore Girls. Fandom is a crazy world, but I've met the most amazing people through it - friends for life. Good luck to you in whatever you do, and check in when you can. :)

I totally have to echo rieness's comments. I've only been around fandom for about three years, but I feel like it's been a lot longer than that. I'm glad I've gotten to know you a little and squee with you about certain things (Alias and Gilmore Girls included) and I hope things continue to go well for you. Maybe I can finally make it out to Cali one of these days.

I know you've reached a time and place of transition in your life, which is good. Had I been involved in fandom at your age I never would have had time either. I'm now older & more established so I have a bit of time for this sort of thing. But where you are is a lovely place.

Thanks for posting this, it was lovely. And I wouldn't trade getting to know the folks I have through this medium for anything. The relationships, squeeing, introductions to new shows, in your case with me Farscape in particular, but BSG & GG as well, those things I'm very grateful for.

Well, it's been fun. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts on TV, life, etc. and I'm glad I got to know you a little! Good luck with everything.

The nice thing about LJ is that you don't have to feel encumbered by anyone's rules over what you can and can't write. So while I'll say goodbye for now -- with a big GOOD LUCK for all the cool things you have coming up -- just know that you can always come back and let us know how you're doing from time to time. It was a blast meeting you those two times, but who knows? We may run into each other again. :-D

As for the Vartan vibe, well, I read this article the other day and cracked up. There's such a small group that knows why that's funny, and not too get mushy or anything, but I love that you do too. ;-D

Oh, that article made my day. Thanks for reminding me of a great memory.
See, we knew what we were talking about with that Vartan Vibe.
