between the sontar nurse and the blue guy both copping it, I AM SAD. The Doctor's homeground team was sort of fab and I wanted to see them return many times.
The two chaps definitely felt almost like Moffat thumbing his nose at his neysayers all 'WELL ALRIGHT FINE IF YOU INSIST LOOK I'M NOT MISOGYNISTIC OR HOMOPHOBIC OR ANYTHING LOOK WHAT I CAN DO' which was a tad irritating. But I will take my reptilian interspecies lesbians any day of the week. Also loling forever at the fact that our lizard is all 'i don't know why you put up with me' and then THE TONGUE makes an appearance and her girliefriend gives her a look like 'YOU KNOW WHY I PUT UP WITH YOU DON'T MAKE ME SAY IT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN IN THE AUDIENCE.'
I feel like the gay in this series has generally been a product of someone bts going "maybe gay it up a bit?" and he's not always been very good at it. It's like, he could have stopped with married with the boys, and that would have been fine, over the convoluted jokes.
Vastra and Jenny, though. That was many levels of right.
Yeah, see I watched this episode really late and was all 'hang on a mo. Did I just see Victorian, sword swinging, crime fighting, interspecies lesbians or is it REALLY late?'
Then the next episode title came up and I wondered what kind of crack dream I was having...
I swear Moffat has bets with people about what he can legitimately get into an episode of DW without people declaring that he's lost it.
Although I wasn't really sure what the point of the two chaps were. Since the non de-headed one didn't seem to really be that bothered about his other half.
You know, the second thought I had after the ep finished and my mind entered a happy bubble was OF COURSE THE DOCTOR TAUGHT HER EVERYTHING, and then went all OMG WE'LL GET YOUNG RIVER IN THE TARDIS LEARNING EVENTUALLY. AND I DIED. but maybe i was already dead at eleven's silly smiles~~
+ the ponds. omg <33 so so so very much amazing. this season i've been appreciating amy WAY much more and this ep. she broke me a lil bit~~
+ cold!doctor. and then he goes all "i'm angry, that's new!" and I giggle and it got lost a bit and but yeah.
i liked how in a way this episode seemed very epic and very scary inducing and in the end it was... way more simplier, it felt homey in the end. like, yeah... IDK hwo to explain msyelf.
It kinda freaks me out, HE MAKES HER INTO HIS PERFECT GIRLFRIEND. But I sort of really need to see him teaching a ten year old River how to drive the TARDIS and the way time travel works and baby adventures and everything else.
It's funny, Moffat does that a lot. He explained his last year's finale as a huge big epic war followed by a 'sitcom in a museum', which is a perfect description and he's done the same thing again. His last bits are always very... comforting.
LOL i know what you mean~~ but at the same moment it makes it all more !!! I'm wodnering how it'll be with the doctor popping in and out of her life while she is still and infant. and I wonder what will happend when you know, river becomes a teen and amy goes all HELL NO, and she goes HELL YEAH and Eleven is like... "MAYBE I SHOULD LEAVE AND COME BACk IN A ONE/TWO YEARS. *silence* OK MAKE THAT A FEW MORE" LOL. A KID IN THE TARDIS THO, i could cry tears of joy~~
I know, it's like, ok I blow your head, confuse you like hell blahblah but in the end, I'll always bring you back home ♥ I kind of love that in the end is all about family and they fucking strong bonds and such~~ and how they have the bad moments but then, then they'll be alright. ♥
