Things you have missed in the life of me:

We moved to Lakemore Village.  Beautiful little house that costs quite a bit more a month than the trailer.  lol.  But it's awesome and there is so much SPACE.  i have so much storage space now that i have no idea what to do with it.  which is a good thing.  ( Read more... )

Legally, if you are leasing the house and have signed paperwork for a year long lease, or a certain length of time, your landlord MUST offer you the opportunity to buy the house before trying to sell it to anyone else (if I know my real estate law). My mom's new secretary went through something like this about 6 months ago in L-town. I would say you should ask a lawyer friend or do some research about all of this, because you're right: that's bull.

ALSO, I do believe that they have to give you a certain amount of notice before they can kick you out.

Doreen is correct. Legally you are in a contract and the land lord must abide by all the stipulations in the contract. Also, in the case that someone buys the house, YOU ARE IN A CONTRACT. Legally, they can not kick you out because when they buy the house, they are buying you as tenants. (I know this because our apartment is in a complex that is for sale and even if someone buys it, we're in a contract for 6 months and they are legally required to abide by the contract ( ... )

well, the thing about the contract is, we were told to go ahead and move in and nothing about a contract was even mentioned. he said the landlord would contact us. so the landlord contacted us and said there was no contract, that the house was being sold. so it's basically a big mess. they screwed us over pretty damn good. the guy is basically getting cash every month from us, even though we may not be able to stay here. he knew that if we knew the house was for sale, we wouldn't have rented it. so apparently he needs money because he didn't bother to share that information.

Dude that really really sucks. I'd still seek out a lawyer, see what they say. Coz this is bull-malarky.
