Deathwatch 2005

April is only in its infancy (6 days old, to be exact), and already the month has claimed the lives of three aged, famous people:

2nd - Pope John Paul II

5th - Saul Bellow

6th - Prince Rainier III

First the Pope, and now the Prince of Monaco, this pair of less photogenic royal couple simply can't get a break. I doubt C & C would want to ( Read more... )

Somebody in the fate department really doesn't want C&C to get married. I find it endlessly entertaining that they need to push their wedding back for the funeral of the Pope when the Church of England is all "Boo, Pope!" Maybe it's just me who finds these things funny.

I was really sad to hear about Prince Rainier, probably because I love Grace so much. It was really sad to hear the newscasters talk about how heartbroken he was after she died, it almost made me cry. Sniffle.

You're far from the only one who's amused. Although I do feel sorry for them. But still. *snort*

I'm amused too. And not so sorry for them. I mean, I'm not a Princess Di lover, I just feel very meh about C&C.

Bwah! I didn't even think of the CoE angle. I read in an article that the wedding was pushed back so that Charles can go to the Pope's funeral in the Queen's stead. Like, the Queen isn't even doing anything.

I totally thought about you when I heard of Prince Rainier, er, because of the Princess connection. PR represents for me the time of old glamour, and now he's gone and we're left with Prince Albert, Princess Stephanie and Princess Caroline and they have so little grace and charm of their parents.

I read that according to the last few visitors of the Pope, he was peaceful at the end.

I think history might remember C&C as fond as Wallis Simpson and King Edward. Theirs is also a duty vs. love thing.
