When I was in China we were hit by the eye of typhoon Chanchu, the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the South China Sea in May. Laura, what an experience! I'm hoping to go to Hangzhou, China in October 2009 with a very good friend who is a U.S. citizen but born in China. I told her I wanted to go when there is the least amount of air pollution and no typhoons! Take care...Kitty in Tucson
